The 2020 Mazda6 will go on sale in
the United States this fall and the company has announced pricing will start at US$ 24,000. Cost US$ 200 more than its predecessor, the 2020 Mazda6 largely carries
over as the biggest difference is a new key fob. Other than that, the
range-topping Signature trim gets a new badge on the trunk. While the changes are minor, the
entry-level Mazda6 Sport has a stylish design and comes nicely equipped with
LED headlights, rain sensing wipers and 17-inch alloy wheels. Buyers will also
find a rearview camera, LED taillights and a dual exhaust system.
The interior comes well appointed as standard
features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a dual-zone climate control
system and an 8-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system. Other highlights
include a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, a push-button
ignition and two USB ports.
On the safety front, there’s the i-Activsense suite
of driver assistance systems that includes Mazda Radar Cruise Control with stop
and go, Advanced Smart City Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection, Smart
Brake Support with Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning with Lane-Keep
Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Power is provided by a 2.5-liter
Skyactiv-G engine that produces 187 hp and 252 Nm of torque. It is connected exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Mazda6 Touring starts at US$ 26,600 and it adds a
host of popular features including leatherette upholstery, heated front seats
and 19-inch alloy wheels. Other highlights include a six-way power driver’s
seat, a power moonroof and two rear USB charging ports. The trim also adds an
advanced keyless entry system as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
Upgrading to the Mazda6 Grand Touring costs US$ 29,700,
but it rewards buyers with a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that produces up to
250 hp and 420 Nm of torque. Speaking of
performance, the model also gains larger front brakes. Other features include heated
side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and SiriusXM satellite radio with
a three-month trial subscription. There’s also an 11-speaker Bose audio system
and steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
Buyers looking for more luxury can opt for the
Mazda6 Grand Touring Reserve which starts at US$ 32,200. It features signature LED
headlights, an adaptive front lighting system and a rear spoiler. The model
also has a windshield wiper de-icer and power folding side mirrors. The interior comes nicely
equipped with heated / ventilated leather front seats, heated rear seats and a
heated steering wheel. There’s also a color head-up display, a six-way power
passenger seat and an eight-way power driver’s seat with a memory function.
If that isn’t luxurious enough, the Mazda6 Signature
is available for US$ 35,300. It is distinguished by a gunmetal front grille, Nappa
leather, UltraSuede accents and Japanese Sen wood trim. The model also has a
frameless rearview mirror and LED ambient lighting. The range-topper comes with an
assortment of technology features including a 7-inch digital gauge display, GPS
navigation and a 360° View Monitor. Other highlights include front / rear
parking sensors, traffic sign recognition technology and a three-year
subscription to SiriusXM’s Traffic and Travel Link.
