While the Middle East is getting a facelifted Nissan
Patrol, North America’s Armada remains mostly the same for the 2020 model year. The only updates the 2020 Armada
gets in the United States include standard heated side mirrors on all grade
levels and a newly-available 22’’ Wheel Package with 22×8-inch forged
aluminum-alloy wheels in a 14-spoke design shod with 275/50 R22 all-season
tires.
Nissan’s flagship SUV continues to offer seating for
up to eight passengers and a cavernous interior with flexible cargo space. The
engine remains the same brawny 5.6-liter Endurance V8 shared with the Infiniti
QX80. Rated at 395 PS and 533 Nm of torque and
linked to a seven-speed automatic transmission, the power plant contributes to
a 3,855-kg towing capacity in both 4WD and 2WD configurations.
The 2020 Nissan Armada is available in four trim
levels (SV, SL, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve), each of which offered with
standard 2WD or available 4WD — a US$ 3,000 option on each grade. The base SV 4×2
model starts at US$ 47,100, accounting for a US$ 310 increase over the 2019 Armada SV
4×2. The range-topping 2020 Armada Platinum Reserve 4×4 costs US$ 68,030, up US$ 2,340 compared to the equivalent 2019 model.
Notable standard features for 2020 include the
digital Intelligent Rear View Mirror (I-RVM) and the suite of safety features
that consists of Intelligent Distance Control, Automatic Emergency Braking,
Lane Departure Warning/Intelligent Lane Intervention, Blind Spot Warning, and
Intelligent Around View Monitor, among other systems.
2020 Armada customers can spec four option packages,
including the Driver Package, Premium Package, Captain’s Chairs Package, and
new 22″ Wheel Package.
