Tata Motors is prepping a mid-cycle update for the
Tiago. The facelifted Tiago was spotted during road-tests in Ladakh along with
the upcoming Altroz. The Tiago (facelift) units spotted till date were deprived of the production-ready
headlamps, and the new grille. In
details, the most significant change the Tiago has received is in terms of its
updated front grille which comprises horizontal slat design elements replacing
the earlier honeychomb mesh grille pattern. The updated grille gels in with the
sharper headlamps which have grown sleeker and more modern. It also gets an
updated front bumper which was seen covered in camouflage. It features revised
fog lamp housing along with the new design.
The overall profile of the Tiago (facelift) remains
unaltered. While at the back, slightly revised detailing in the tail lamp could
be noticed. On the inside, the car is expected to receive a revised seat
upholstery and trim, and improved infotainment system. Only recently, the
current pre-facelift Tiago was updated with fully digital instrument cluster
and the same is expected to make way in the facelift model. Apart from this, it
is also expected to carry over other features like an 8-speaker Harman sound
system, climate control, steering mounted controls, multi-info display as well
as projector headlamps.
The 2020 Tata Tiago (facelift) will feature the current
model's 1.2-litre Revotron naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine,
albeit, it will be updated to meet the BS-VI emission standards. The current,
BS-IV version produces 85 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of
114 Nm at 3,500 rpm. This engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual and AMT.
Meanwhile, the current 1.05-litre diesel engine is expected to be taken off the
charts due to high upgradation costs involved.
Expect the facelifted Tata Tiago to be launched in
India by end-2019. In terms of pricing it will cost slightly higher than the
pre-facelift model which retails in the range of INR 4.39 to 6.36 lakh (Petrol,
Ex-showroom, Delhi)
