Aston Martin has unveiled the new DBS GT Zagato at
the Audrain’s Newport Concours, as the modern twin to the DB4 GT Zagato
Continuation. The British car maker will offer the two cars only as pairs -called
the DBZ Centenary Collection- to just 19 collectors for the price of £6 million
(US$ 7.39 million) before taxes.
The new DBS GT Zagato is powered by the
Superleggera’s twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 unit, only here it’s upgraded to 760
HP. The display car is finished in the exclusive Supernova Red paired with
exposed carbon fiber accents and gold-black 3D machined wheels over a Spicy Red
leather interior.
Speaking of the cabin, here you’ll find the first
automotive application of metal 3D-printed interior finishes that include the central
‘saddle’, which here is finished in Gold PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition). This
finish requires almost 100 hours of print time with additional polishing and
post-processing by the company’s specialists in order to achieve the perfect
lustrous finish.
If gold is too much for you, Aston Martin also
offers the choice between printed carbon and aluminum for the interior of your
new DBS GT Zagato. The company’s customization service ‘Q’ can also help
customers to create their own, truly bespoke part by utilizing the latest
additive processes. The new technology opens a new world of interior
customization for those willing to commission a truly bespoke cabin.
The exterior of the new DBS GT Zagato is equally
striking, featuring a set of solid 18-carat gold wing badges, gold anodised
side strakes and center lock wheel nuts, a gloss carbon fiber roof and rear
diffuser and of course that huge active front grille.
The grille itself is also the first automotive
application of configurable carbon, featuring 108 individual diamond-shaped
carbon pieces that remain flush with the bodywork when the car is parked and
open when the car starts up to let the air go through.
