BMW’s online configurator has been updated to
include the new X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition.
The configurators are on
the company’s UK website and have yet to be added to the U.S. site. Both SUVs
can be specced out with largely the same options, although the X6 M Competition
is available in one extra color (Manhattan metallic).
As for the interior, there are a number of different
finishes available, including Sakhir Orange full Merino leather. Options
include the Visibility package that sports BMW’s LaserLights, the M Driver’s
Package that increases the top speed, and the Comfort Plus Package that
includes things like soft-close doors, Ambient Air, acoustic glass, seat
heating front and rear, and massage functions for front passengers.
Both the X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition are
powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter MPower V8 with 617 HP and 750 Nm of torque that’s paired to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission sending
power through an Active M Differential to all four wheels. They hit 100
km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds and max out at an electronically limited 250 km/h, which increases to 290 km/h with the aforementioned M
Driver’s Package.
Prices for the BMW X5 M Competition in the United
States start from US$ 114,100 while the X6 M Competition is a little pricier, at US$ 117,600.
