Kia Motors Australia is expanding its offerings with
the introduction of two new special editions. Packing enhanced styling and
equipment, the Stinger Carbon Edition and Sorento Black Edition are meant to be
made more attractive to prospective customers. Starting off with the Stinger
Carbon, it is based on the 365 HP, 3.3-liter bi-turbo GT trim and adds a series
of exclusive carbon fiber exterior trims that set it apart from its siblings.
The parts decked in carbon fiber include the front
grille surround, hood and fender vents, mirror caps, and lower rear bumper
area. Those can be combined with five exterior colors including the new Neon
Orange, Micro Blue, Hichroma Red, Snow White Pearl and Aurora Black.
Inside, it gets a special Carbon Edition badge in
front of the gear lever and a sporty Alcantara steering wheel. All these
styling tweaks can be found on North America’s Stinger GTS as well but, unlike
that model, Australia’s Stinger Carbon does not get the newly developed dynamic
all-wheel drive system with drift mode because, Down Under, the Stinger only
comes with RWD.
The drive away price of AUD 67,990 (US$ 46,210) makes
the Carbon Edition AUD 4,000 (US$ 2,720) more expensive than the GT model on
which it’s based.
As for the Sorento Black Edition, Kia Australia has
not released photos yet but says it sports a range of gloss black exterior
elements, including the 19-inch alloys, grille and roof racks, in addition to
dark chrome door garnish and black side mirror caps. The special edition family
SUV also features black front and rear skid plates, panoramic sunroof and
privacy, as well as distinctive “Ice Cube” LED fog lights. Customers can have
the Sorento Black Edition in four exterior colors, named Clear White, Silky
Silver, Aurora Black and Snow White Pearl.
Positioned between the SLi and GT-Line, the special
edition Sorento costs AUD 48,990 (US$ 33,340) with the 3.5-liter petrol engine
and AUD 52,490 (US$ 35,720) with the 2.2-liter diesel.
