The Lexus RX L has been launched in India, and that
too directly in the facelifted avatar that was introduced in May this year. It
is priced at INR 99.00 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The facelifted Lexus RX
is yet to reach our shores, while the pre-facelift Lexus RX has been
discontinued now.
The 'L' in the Lexus RX L stands for the fact it's
the longer version with three-row seating layout for seven (as standard) or six
(optionally) occupants. Whether the six-seat option is available in India or
not hasn't been clarified to the press.
The facelift has brought new front grille, newly
designed front fog lamps, remodelled front bumper and tweaked tail lamps to the
Lexus RX L. Inside, the 12.3-inch central display's encasing is in a more stylish
avatar now. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support has been added to the
infotainment system.
LED headlamps with L-shaped clearance lamps,
illuminated exterior door handles, 20-inch aluminium wheels with customisable
colour trims, panoramic roof, LED tail lamps with L motif and one-touch
power-folding third-row seats are some of the key features of the Indian-spec
Lexus RX L. Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, Bladescan Adaptive High-Beam
System, LED cornering lights, Blind Spot Monitor, Parking Assist (360-degree
camera system) and Lane Departure Alert.
The new Lexus RX 450hL makes use of
revised character lines that run across the length of the vehicle. It features
L-shaped LED lamps which also integrate LED DRLs with signature Lexus
arrowhead-shaped illumination. It sports advanced LED turn signal lamps which
light-up in an outward sweeping motion.
Lexus is selling the RX L in India exclusively in
the RX 450hL hybrid variant. While the 2GR-FXS 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine (262
PS/335 Nm) is a given, whether there are two electric motors assisting this
engine and resulting in an AWD drivetrain layout or just one (front) is
something Lexus is yet to reveal. The combustion engine is BS-VI compliant. The
fuel economy rating is 18.8 km/l.
