Mahindra has silently introduced the XUV300 AMT in a
cheaper 'W6' grade at INR 9.99 lakh*. Like in the W8 and W8 (O) grades, it is
available in only the diesel engine variant.
Compared to the Mahindra XUV300 W6 diesel-MT, the Mahindra
XUV300 W6 diesel-AMT is INR 55,000 more expensive. Under the hood is the same
1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine which delivers 115 PS of maximum
power and 300 Nm of peak torque. It is linked to a 6-speed automated manual
transmission. The diesel-AMT features a creep function that allows the vehicle
to move without throttle input in both first and reverse gear, making driving
in traffic and parking easy. Another exclusive feature is Creep disable Door
Opening that prevents the vehicle from moving if the doors are open. The driver
can select between Auto and Manual transmission modes. The former is more
fuel-efficient.
The Mahindra XUV300 W6
diesel-AMT is equipped with features like LED tail lamps, steering mounted phone
& audio controls, electric tailgate release, 12V accessory socket, 17.78 cm
touch screen infotainment with in-built GPS navigation and more. However, it
misses out on some core comfort and entertainment features like dual-zone fully
automatic temperature control, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, smart
rain-sensing wipers and more that are offered in the higher grade(s).
The Mahindra XUV300 W6 diesel-AMT is safer than the
Mahindra XUV300 W6 diesel-MT, thanks to two additional features: Electronic
Stability Programme (ESP) and hill-start assist with roll mitigation. Other
safety equipment includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminders
for the driver and front passenger, speed alert system and more.
The Mahindra XUV300 W6 AMT rivals the likes of
Maruti Vitara Brezza in mid-spec VDi and ZDi trims and Tata Nexon in the
lower-spec XMA trim and the recently relaunched Nexon Kraz+ trim.
