Maruti Suzuki launched the Tour M diesel (Maruti
Ertiga taxi diesel) at INR 9.81 lakh* in August and this development has gone
unnoticed in the media so far. In July, the company had launched the Tour M CNG
(Ertiga taxi CNG) at INR 8.83 lakh*, along with the Ertiga CNG (INR 8.88
lakh*). Like the petrol and petrol-CNG engine variants, the diesel engine
variant is based on the VXI trim of the Ertiga.
The Maruti Tour M diesel makes use of DDIS 225
(1.5L) diesel engine which is rated to deliver 95 PS and 225 Nm of peak torque.
The engine comes paired with a 6MT and is rated to deliver 24.20 km/l of
maximum fuel efficiency.
On the outside, the Maruti Tour M diesel features
projector headlamps, 3D tail lamps with LED, body-coloured door handles and
ORVMs. Inside, it shares the same comfort and convenience features as the Tour
M petrol and CNG. Speaking of which its equipment list includes electrically
adjustable and foldable ORVMs, power and tilt steering, power windows, remote
keyless entry, passenger side sunvisor with vanity mirror and second-row
adjustable AC. It doesn't get automatic climate control, but manual AC.
The Maruti Tour M diesel is offered with safety
features such as dual airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, engine immobilizer,
speed sensor lock, child lock rear door and parking sensors. The Ertiga is
available in White, Silver, Magma Gray, Red and Blue colours, the Tour M can be
had in White, Silver and Black colours.
In other updates, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to
launch the premium variant of the Wagon R. This variant has been spied getting
tested on the public roads in the past and it will be sold through NEXA. Just
like the XL6, this premium variant will be differentiated from its donor
vehicle with more stylish exterior looks and advanced equipment.
