GAC Honda has unveiled its new SUV called the
Breeze, essentially a clone of the Dongfeng-manufactured Honda CR-V.
The copy stays almost identical to the original in
terms of dimensions. At 4,634 mm long, it is 49 mm longer, but that is about it. Restyled elements include the headlights,
the front grille, and both bumpers.
The engine palette likewise stays unchanged. The
Sport Turbo version ships with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine
rated at 193 hp and 243 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT
transmission. The Sport Hybrid packs the i-MMD powertrain good for 215 hp and 315 Nm total.
Higher trim versions ship with the Honda Sensing
safety package and the second-gen Honda Connect multimedia service. This is not the first time Honda
produces clones: for example, the U.S.-sold Honda Passport is actually a
badge-engineered Honda Pilot. The sales launch date will be announced at the Guangzhou auto show
opening for visitors on November 22, 2019.
