To mark seven years since the BRZ was introduced to
the Spanish market, Subaru’s local subsidiary has launched a Special Edition
model. As with the WRX STI Final Edition unveiled earlier this year, the BRZ
Special Edition is exclusive to Spain and is offered in a very limited
production run: 20 units in this case. Each of the 20 cars will feature unique exterior and interior design
tweaks, as well as upgraded equipment.
On the outside, the BRZ Special Edition sports gloss
black 17-inch multi-spoke alloys, plus gloss black mirror caps, antenna, and
rear wing. The model can be had with any of the seven exterior colors available
on the BRZ.
The interior treatment is arguably more spectacular
as it brings a pair of welcoming dual-tone front seats with tan leather
bolsters and Alcantara seating surfaces. Tan leather is also present on the
door panels, while stitching in the same color is found on the leather steering
wheel, dashboard, gearshift lever gaiter, handbrake lever, and rear seats.
The entire package is available for € 32,900
(US$ 36,030) which is the same amount Spanish customers spend on the
range-topping Subaru BRZ Executive. Unless the customer wants it in Pure Red,
metallic paints add € 550 (US$ 600) to the base price.
Needless to say, the powertrain remains unchanged
and consists of a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-four gasoline engine rated
at 200 PS at 7,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at
6,400-6,600rpm. A six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels is the
only gearbox available.
