Tata Motors is working on several new models and
Buzzard a.k.a Cassini is one of then. It has been caught on camera yet again
getting tested on rough water-logged public roads, courtesy Team-BHP. For the people unaware of the
developments, the Buzzard is nothing but the 7-seater version of the Tata
Harrier.
Tata Motors has also displayed the same publicly at
the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. In terms of exterior looks, clearer spy shots have
revealed that it will look highly similar to the Harrier from the front, but
differences will be introduced from behind the C-pillar as the rear section
will be stretched to accommodate an extra row of seats. To carve out more
space, Tata Motors has decided to do away with stretching the rear overhang
instead of the wheelbase. The Buzzard will receive a stepped roof and will also
get a more upright tailgate and tweaked tail lamp design to differentiate its
design from the Harrier.
The Tata Buzzard measures 4,661 mm (+63 mm) in
length, 1,894 mm in width and 1,786 mm (+80 mm) in height. Other than that, it
sports bigger, 18-inch wheels (optional) which will complement its bigger
dimensions. The Tata Harrier's 17-inch alloy wheels will likely be offered in
lower configurations.
Under the hood, it has a peppier version of the
2.0-litre Kryotec turbo-diesel engine which will soon be made available on its
five-seat version. This engine is known by the name 'Kryotech170' and gets its
name from its 170 PS power output. It also develops 350 Nm of peak torque. It
will be BS-VI compliant right from the launch. 6-speed manual and 6-speed
automatic will be the transmission choices.
The Tata Buzzard will go on sale by the end-2019 and
will be priced from around INR 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
