Yamaha has launched the Yamaha FZ v3.0 and Yamaha
FZ-S v 3.0 in Vietnam at VND 31 million and VND 31.6 million. Interestingly, the FZ v3.0 and FZ-S v3.0 are priced in India at INR
96,680 and 98,680 respectively (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi), and thus, more
expensive.
The Yamaha FZ and the Yamaha FZ-S share a few
cosmetic changes including a chrome attachment on the pseudo air intakes on the
fuel tank extensions. Besides that, the FZ-S also gets different shades of
paint and wheel rim stickers. Both the Yamaha FZ v3.0 and Yamaha FZ-S v3.0 get
an LED headlamp, reverse backlit instrumentation, disc brakes at both ends and
a single-channel ABS.
Powering the Yamaha FZ v3.0 is a 149 cc air-cooled,
fuel-injected, SOHC, 2-valve engine. Coupled to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine
produces 13.2 PS of power and 12.8 Nm of torque. These numbers do not impress a
lot on paper but are ideal for everyday city commuting. However, the moment you
take it to a highway or even in the hills, the bike feels out of steam. Besides
that, the lightweight 137 kg kerb weight is a delight to flick around in
traffic.
Thee Yamaha FZ was first introduced in Vietnam as a
private import back in 2009. The second iteration of the motorcycle (which saw
the entry of fuel injection) was officially launched in 2014 and called Yamaha
FZ 150i. The bike was later discontinued post the launch of Yamaha MT-15.
