Hyundai Motor India has silently launched the 2019
i20 Active with prices starting at INR 7.74 lakh*. The refreshed model's
starting price is INR 2,000 higher. On the exterior features front,
the 2019 Hyundai i20 Active comes loaded with projector lens headlamps with LED
DRLs and cornering lamps, fog lamps, LED taillights, shark-fin antenna, rugged
plastic body cladding and diamond-cut alloy wheels which are offered in its
higher-spec variants. Apart from that, it also comes with roof rails, and faux
skid plate on the front and rear bumper.
With the MY2019 update, the Hyundai i20 Active has
gained new standard safety features in order to meet the latest safety norms.
Its standard safety kit includes reverse parking sensors with a rear-view
camera, speed alert system and driver and passenger seatbelt reminder.
Inside, it comes with the same cabin layout as the
old model and there aren't any changes, save for the funky finishing on the air
vent bezels and contrast finished seats. Its higher-spec variants come kitted
with features such as 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay
and Android Auto, push-button start, keyless entry, auto climate control, rear
AC vents, wireless charging and more. It is offered in three variants, namely
S, SX and the SX dual-tone.
As for the mechanicals, it is offered with the same
1.2-litre petrol engine and the 1.4-litre diesel engine. The former churns out
82 PS of maximum power and 115 NM of torque The latter, on the other hand,
delivers 89 PS and 220 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come mated to a
6-speed manual transmission. The diesel variant is available in only the
range-topping SX trim.

Now that Hyundai has a sub-4 metre SUV, the Venue,
it may not offer an Active version of the next-gen 2020 i20 due early next
year.
