The 2020 Cadillac CT5-V was a disappointment for fans expecting a proper successor to the CTS-V, but the company has announced its lower performance will be accompanied by a significantly lower price tag. Set to arrive early next year, the CT5-V will start at US$ 48,690 including a US$ 995 destination charge. That means the model is almost US$ 40,000 cheaper than the 2019 CTS-V which began at US$ 86,995.

Customers will be able to choose an assortment of options and one of the most popular will likely be all-wheel drive. It costs US$ 2,600 and bumps the base price up to US$ 51,290. Speaking of options, customers can order premium paint (US$ 625 – US$ 1,225), blue or red brake calipers (US$ 595) and different 19-inch alloy wheels (US$ 600). An assortment of packages will also be available, including a Driver Awareness Plus package that costs US$ 1,300. It adds a head up display, lane keep assist with lane departure warning and an 8-inch digital display in the instrument cluster.


Buyers can also opt for the US$ 1,950 Driver Assistance and Advanced Security package. It adds adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and reverse automatic braking. Other highlights include a locking fuel door, a self-powered theft-deterrent system and vehicle inclination / movement sensors. The US$ 2,090 Parking package rewards buyers with a rear camera mirror, rear pedestrian alert and an automatic parking assist system. There’s also a surround vision system, a hands-free trunk, an air ionizer and a power tilt / telescoping steering column.

The US$ 4,190 Premium package adds the Climate and Lighting packages as well as a head up display. It also includes GPS navigation and a Bose premium audio system. Buyers looking for more luxury can opt for the Platinum package which costs US$ 6,290. It adds semi-aniline leather seats, an UltraView sunroof and the parking package.

Also, Cadillac confirmed the CT5-V is more powerful than originally estimated. The gains are minor, but the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 is now rated at 360 hp and 548 Nm of torque – a small improvement of 5 hp and 7 Nm.
