Hyundai has released U.S. pricing for the redesigned 2020 Sonata, and the reality is the sedan is a lot of car for the money. Starting at US$ 23,400 (US$ 930 destination), the base 2020 Hyundai Sonata SE is US$ 750 more expensive than the previous-generation model. However, the price increase is easily offset by the added content compared to the 2019 Sonata SE.

New standard equipment for the entry-level Sonata SE includes the 191 HP Smartstream 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, 8-speed automatic transmission and Shift-By-Wire selector, 8-inch LCD monitor, Electronic Parking Brake, LED Hidden Lighting Lamps, LED DRLs, LED taillights, and laminated windshield.


Also new are the driving assistance systems offered as part of the standard SmartSense suite. They include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Driver Attention Warning, automatic high-beam assist, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go.

Moving up in the range, the 2020 Hyundai Sonata SEL is priced at US$ 25,500 and adds an array of features. Among them there are design upgrades including 17-inch alloys, sport front and rear fascias, twin-tip muffler, side mirror turn signal indicators, leatherette interior door panel inserts, and liquid chrome interior accents.


Standard convenience features include heated side mirrors, heated front seats, 8-way power driver’s seat, dual automatic temperature control, hands-free Smart Trunk Release, proximity key entry with push button start, 4.2-inch color LCD instrument cluster, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a center rear armrest. The SEL trim also adds Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist.

For US$ 27,450, customers can get the SEL Plus trim which brings the new 180 HP Smartstream 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as standard. Along with the turbo engine, the SEL Plus adds sporty upgrades including 18-inch alloys, glossy black side mirrors and window surround, aluminum pedals, and Dinamica suede / leatherette seating surfaces.


Finally, the range-topping 2020 Hyundai Sonata Limited is priced at US$ 33,300. For the money, customers get the 1.6L turbo-four, Hyundai Digital Key, Color Head Up Display, Blind-Spot View Monitor with Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and much more as standard. The 2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will arrive later in the year.
