Kawasaki has unveiled the updated version of its
street naked motorcycle, the Kawasaki Z900, at EICMA 2019. The bike has gained
new electronics, instrumentation and tyres with the MY2019 update. Besides
that, the new Z900 also meets the upcoming Euro-V emission norms.
With the newly unveiled Kawasaki Z H2 taking the
crown for being a maniac street naked in the Green Monster’s line-up, the Z900
is not positioned as a sensible yet aggressive offering. The underpinnings
remain the same. The bike is suspended on 41 mm upside-down fork with rebound
damping and spring preload adjustability at the front and a horizontal
back-link monoshock with similar levels of adjustability at the rear. Kawasaki
has also added a new set of Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres for improved
handling.
The Kawasaki Z900 gains a swanky-new 10.9 cm TFT
screen with Bluetooth for smartphone connectivity. Functions that can be seen
on the smartphone screen include vehicle information such as remaining fuel,
distance covered and maintenance schedule. Call and Email notification icon is
also on offer which will pop up on the screen. An under-seat USB power socket
is also on offer. Braking duties are taken care of by semi-floating 300 mm
petal discs with 4-piston callipers at the front and single 250 mm disc at the
rear and a single-piston calliper.
At the heart of the 2020 Kawasaki Z900 is a 948 cc
in-line, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Coupled to a 6-speed gearbox and a
slipper clutch, the engine produces 125 PS of power and 98.6 Nm of torque. The
exhaust pre-chamber has been added to add on to the auditory experience.
Besides that, the Kawasaki Z900 now comes with three-level traction control and
two power modes. The bike also gets 4 riding modes (Sport, Road, Rain and
Manual).
New colour options for the 2020 Kawasaki Z900
include:
- Metallic Graphite Grey
- Metallic Spark Black plus Candy Lime Green
- Metallic Spark Black and Pearl Blizzard White
- Metallic Spark Black
- Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Flat Spark Black
The 2020 Kawasaki Z900 tips the scales at 210 kg
which is the same as the BS-IV version sold in India. However, the ground
clearance has increased by 15 mm to 145 mm. The seat height has increased by 25
mm to 820 mm.
