The 2020 Skoda
Octavia RS has reportedly leaked online. Skoda usually comes out with
derivatives, especially performance variants, at a later stage. But the new
image suggests that 2020 Octavia RS might be coming before expectations. The
image reveals a number of key design differentiators between the
regular Octavia and the sportier Octavia RS. For the uninitiated, the 2020
Skoda Octavia is scheduled to make the real-world debut in Prague, the Czech
Republic on 11 November 2019. Its RS variant should also debut at the same
event if this is the real deal.
At the front, the 2020 Skoda Octavia RS comes with
the same sleek looking singular LED headlights but a sportier bumper in a design
similar to that of the Skoda Vision RS concept from the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
The radiator grille gets an all-black treatment. The fog lights seem to be LED
units, and along with the headlamps, carry a dark tint.
The leaked image shows side skirts, a front
splitter, red brake callipers and petal-style large alloy wheels as well. The
rear-end is not visible, but we expect a sporty black spoiler and diffuser to
be among the key differences. Inside, it is expected with RS-specific features such as all-black
colour scheme, Alcantara seat upholstery with red stitching, sport seats and an
additional 'Sports View' mode for the instrument cluster.
As for the mechanicals, no specifics have been
mentioned yet, but it will most like draw power from the upgraded version of
the current car's 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which is rated to
deliver 245 PS of maximum power. The engine should come mated to a 6-speed
dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard.
