Back in July, Jaguar began testing its restyled
F-Type sports car on the track. Despite the camouflage, we could tell that the
new model will feature a more streamlined aesthetic, thin horizontal headlights
instead of vertical, swept-back ones, and a reasonably-sized grille. In a
sense, one could almost say that it’s a less visually-aggressive design than
the current car’s.
And yes, the Aston Martin Vantage immediately came
to mind the second we spotted that headlight cutout. Still, if you had any trouble
picturing the car based on those spy shots we just mentioned, here’s a digital
depiction of it courtesy of Kolesa. Now, while the headlights and profile of
the car seem to fit what we’ve been picturing, the real thing clearly doesn’t
have a grille this big.
At the rear, there will be an active spoiler, so a wing this big might make sense on something more
brawny like an SVR version. As for the taillights, it’s hard to say whether
they match those on the prototypes or not – but we’re leaning towards not,
there just seems to be something off about the size and shape here.
Jaguar is expected to launch the new F-Type either
in 2021 or as soon as next year. Unfortunately, details remain few and far
between regarding possible powertrain changes, but at least modern onboard tech
upgrades are a given.
