Much like the more traditionally-shaped GLE 63 and 63 S duo, the Merc GLE 63 Coupe pictured is adorned with aggressive bodywork that makes it stand out from lesser models including the GLE 53. Up front, we can see the car manufacturer’s Panamericana grille as well as a set of enlarged air intakes and a sharp front bumper that’s been covered with camouflage.
An image of the SUV’s rear shows off a set of four rectangular tailpipes, an obvious giveaway that this is the AMG 63 variant and not a slightly tamer 43 or 53 model. Inevitably, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe will be sold in standard and ‘S’ forms. Both will use a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine working alongside an EQ Boost starter-alternator through a 48-volt on-board electrical system and delivering no less than 563 HP and 750 Nm of torque in the regular GLE 63 Coupe and 603 HP and 850 Nm in the ‘S’ model.
The duo should be able to match the more upright variants in a straight-line, hitting 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and 3.8 seconds in the S model. The 9G auto transmission, all-wheel drive, adaptive damping, and active roll stablization will all come standard.
In the cabin, everything should be identical to “standard” GLE. Consequently, there will be a performance steering wheel with aluminum shift paddles as standard, ambient lighting, stainless steel sports pedals, and a healthy dose of plush Nappa leather. We expect to see the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe and GLE 63 S Coupe presented to the world in the first half of 2020.
