Audi is taking orders for the A1 Citycarver in the United Kingdom. The pseudo-crossover starts at £ 22,040 (US$ 28,336/€ 25,529), £ 3,605 (US$ 4,635/€ 4,176) more than the base A1 Sportback. The 30 TFSI Advanced trim level comes as standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 8.8-inch infotainment system, sports seats wrapped in textile material and a sports steering wheel.

Customers can also choose between nine exterior paint finishes and black or grey contrasting roof, or opt for the mid-range Design Selection, which adds mood lighting and a few other features, or the range-topping S Line, with its roof spoiler, larger alloy wheels and leather trim. The Edition One is offered for a limited time and sports orange or grey exterior paint, 18-inch wheels, tinted lights and black trim.

Powering the entry-level model is the 1.0-liter, turbocharged three-cylinder engine, which makes 116 PS and 200 Nm of torque. It’s available with the six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission and does the 0-100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, maxing out at 198 km/h.

The 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque 1.5-liter, four-pot resides in the 35 TFSI, with the same gearbox choices. Carrying a £ 1,080 (US$ 1,388/€ 1,251) premium, this one is a bit quicker, needing 8.2 seconds for the 0-100 km/h and having a 219 km/h top speed.

The A1 Citycarver rides 40 mm higher and has more rugged bumpers, plastic cladding on the lower parts of the body and stainless steel underbody protection. The front end of the car sets itself apart with the two air intakes between the bumper and hood, and black honeycomb grille.
