Dacia is working on the third-generation Sandero, which will finally switch to the Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform, shared with the fifth-gen Clio, second-gen Captur and new Nissan Juke. According to L’Argus, it will be a more affordable version of the architecture, doing away with the latest technology features for cost-related reasons, in order to not cannibalize sales from the Clio. Nonetheless, it’s expected to pack a new infotainment system, as well as a generous selection of petrol and diesel engines.
Don’t expect to see the 115 PS dCi diesel and 1.33-liter TCe petrol with 130 PS, as they probably won’t become available in the Romanian hatchback. Thus, you will have to make do with the 75 PS and 100 PS petrol burners, as well as the 85 PS dCi diesel. In a not-so-surprising maneuver, the next generation Sandero Stepway will allegedly go down the electrified route, featuring a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated mild-hybrid setup that’s expected to produce a combined 140 PS.
The new-gen Sandero will reportedly debut next summer, with the model’s public debut expected to take place at the 2020 Paris Auto Show, where it will be joined by the third-gen Logan as well. A new iteration of the Dokker is also being planned, although based on the current M0 platform. The vehicle is thought to be introduced next spring, probably at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show in March.
