Hennessey has
unveiled their all-new Maximus ahead of its debut at SEMA. Based on the Jeep Gladiator, the
Maximus is an insane off-roader that features an impressive combination of
hard-core looks and mind-boggling performance.
Starting under the hood, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6
has been replaced by a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine. However, the
company didn’t stop there as the engine has an HPE1000 upgrade that includes a
heavy duty radiator, an upgraded fuel system and a stainless steel exhaust. The
tuner also installs a new ECU and wiring harnesses.
Thanks to these modifications, the truck produces
1,000 hp and 1,264 Nm of torque. That means the
model has 3.5 times more power than the standard Gladiator and this cuts the
0-96 km/h time to just 3.9 seconds.
The Maximus is more than just a
high-performance pickup as Hennessey installs an assortment of off-road
goodies. One of the most noticeable changes is the 6-inch lift kit from King.
The truck also sports aluminum wheels which are wrapped in BFGoodrich off-road
tires.
Elsewhere, Hennessey installed heavy-duty
driveshafts and Dana 60 axles with a 4.88 gear ratio. Other highlights include
custom bumpers, LED auxiliary lights and “drop-down” running boards. Buyers
will also find a custom leather interior and an individually numbered plaque.
Gladiator prices can easily exceed US$ 50,000 but
that’s nothing compared to the Maximus’ base price of US$ 225,000. The
high-performance truck will also be more exclusive as production will be
limited to 24 units.
