Some might not know this, but Honda has a design
centre located in Rome, Italy, which comes out with some interesting designs,
the latest of which is the Honda CB4X Concept. Following from last year’s
CB125X and CB125M concept motorcycles, the CB4X is a mash-up of street, touring
and adventure motorcycle design.
An inline-four engine is used, very probably the
mill from the CB400 Super Four. This makes sense for a bike like the CB4X as
the CB400’s 399 cc, DOHC, 16-valve NC42E is known for its power – 53 hp and 38
Nm of torque – and smoothness.
Aluminium is used for the frame and the swingarm
stay/sub-frame looks to be a massive aluminium alloy casting. A single-sided
Honsa ProArm swingarm dominates the looks of the back end along with the
bifurcated SC Project exhaust.
Ohlins does the suspension with upside-down forks
and adjustable monoshock with Brembo radial-mount monobloc callipers on the
front wheel. LED lighting is used throughout with the headlights and DRLs being
slits under the front cowl and we suspect the DRLs perform double duty as turn
signals, as in the Honda CBR250RR.
