Following the reveal of the Modulo X special edition of its Vezel/HR-V crossover, Honda has officially launched it on the domestic market.
In terms of exterior novelty, the car boasts black front bumper inserts, a radiator grille with a honeycomb pattern instead of horizontal fins, black roof railings and side mirror caps, a silvery rear bumper accent, and dual tailpipes. The FWD version ships with wheels 18 inches in diameter, whereas the AWD one makes do with 17 inches.
The suspension also becomes stiffer in the Modulo X version, and the car packs more electronic safety systems than before, Inside, the trim involves imitation leather and Alcantara. The front seats are heated, and the floor mats bear Honda logos.
Modulo X ships with the same range of engines as the regular Honda Vezel/HR-V, minus the entry-level naturally aspirated gasoline mill good for 131 hp. The options include a 1.5-liter V4 with 172 hp and a hybrid system based on a 1.5-liter non-turbo mill with 132 hp and an electric motor adding another 30 hp. All gas-powered configurations are CVT/FWD only, while the hybrid one comes with a seven-speed DCT and optionally supports AWD.
It remains unclear whether the Honda Vezel Modulo X will ever become available on markets outside Japan.
