The point of the
Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro is quite simple. It was designed to go around corners
faster than the regular GT R, despite not having any extra power. However, if
you like your track-focused supercars to possess a bit more visual flair, then
maybe you’ll want to ring up Carlex Design and ask for the so-called Tattoo
Edition model, which features a heavily customized interior and a
tattoo-liveried body.
The cabin is
adorned in various motifs, from the lower dashboard to the sports seats, door
panels and center console. The steering wheel meanwhile is covered in Alcantara
(much like the headliner and various other parts), while the entire cabin wears
yellow as contrast stitching.
This being the GT R
Pro version, it also comes with a fully digital 12.3-inch gauge cluster,
working alongside the 10.25-inch infotainment display above the center console.
More importantly though, there’s a new AMG DYNAMICS driving mode which
optimizes the transverse dynamics for increased lateral acceleration, improved
traction and load change reactions.
Power meanwhile
comes from the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that feeds the
regular AMG GT R its 577 HP and 700 Nm of torque. But
since this is a more capable track car, it managed to lap the Nurburgring
Nordschleife nearly six seconds faster than its lesser doppelganger.
Overall, there’s
something a little sinister about this particular GT R Pro and its bespoke
livery, which we suspect was the point all along.
