Seat is adding a new version to its Tarraco SUV’s range in the form of the new 1.5 TSI DSG FWD version that’s aimed at boosting its appeal to fleet customers – and not just them.
Prospective buyers of the Tarraco didn’t previously have the option of an automatic transmission in FWD models in conjunction with the 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine. Seat has rectified this by offering a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the same one used in the 4Drive AWD variant.
Power output of the 1.5-liter TSI remains the same at 147 HP and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 3,500rpm. Performance should be adequate for an SUV of this size, with Seat claiming a 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 198 km/h. CO2 emissions are rated at between 160 and 181 g/km on the WLTP cycle, with the combined fuel economy set between 7.1 and 8.0 lt/100km (39.8 – 35.3 mpg UK).
The new variant of the Seat Tarraco will become available in both Style and Xcellence trim levels initially, as well as a seven-seat option to customers.
Soon after the launch of the new 1.5 TSI model, Seat will offer the sporty FR trim early next year, as well as a plug-in hybrid version that’s due in the second half of 2020. The PHEV version of the Tarraco, which is also the brand’s first plug-in hybrid model, will be powered by a combination of a 147 HP 1.4-liter TSI engine with a 114 HP electric motor, offering a combined 241 HP and 400 Nm of torque and an EV range of up to 50 km.
