Volkswagen has
prepped no less than three concepts of the Atlas that will be on display at the
2019 SEMA Show between November 5 and 8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The
most vibrant of the three is the Atlas Adventure Concept. Built by the VW
Innovation and Engineering Center in California, it offers a fresh take on the
vehicle, with an off-road ready theme.
The midsize SUV
features H&R coilovers for a jacked up ground clearance, fender flares,
chunky Yokohama rubber, a roof-mounted tent, Thule awning system, custom wrap,
additional lights and several VW original accessories. Immortalizing the
off-road adventures is the onboard drone equipped with an action video camera.
Building on the SEL
Premium grade, the Atlas Basecamp Concept gets a custom body kit, H&R
coilover suspension that provides an additional 38 mm of ground
clearance, front and rear off-road LED light bars, and roof rack with bike
holders. The show car is finished in Platinum Gray and Black Uni with matte
finish and orange accents, and rides on the 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in
265/70 A/T tires, that debuted on the Basecamp Concept last year and are
expected to go into production. A series of VW accessories round up the visual
updates.
Created in
collaboration with Thule and aptly named the Atlas Concept by Thule, the third
study is equipped a roof rack, rooftop tent and hitch bike rack. It also gets
blacked out exterior trim, 20-inch satin black wheels by Vossen and raised
H&R springs, as well as a number of VW accessories.
H&R has revised
the Jetta GLI’s stance with several technical upgrades. The company has fitted
it with sport sway bars, street performance coilovers and wheel spacers. The
sporty compact sedan sits on 20-inch Rotiforms, is finished in Pure Grey
complimented by the anthracite look and Sticky Jewel graphics. Likes its SUV
siblings, this Jetta also sports some of the automaker’s original accessories.
