VW has confirmed it’s bringing a new electric
concept at the LA Auto Show called the ID Space Vizzion, the seventh member of
the ever-expanding ID model family. The new VW ID Space Vizzion
concept is described as the “crossover of tomorrow”, a car that combines “the
aerodynamic characteristics of a Gran Turismo with the spaciousness of an SUV”.
That’s quite a fancy way of describing a sporty wagon.
The latest ID member is based on the company’s
EV-only MEB platform and promises to offer an EPA driving range of up to 482 km, thanks to the efficiency of its electric powertrain and very
aerodynamic design.
The first official sketches reveal a very Tesla
Model 3-like dashboard, featuring a big touchscreen display in the middle,
full-width air vents and a smaller screen in front of the driver. The concept
will adopt a six-seat configuration in three rows, featuring lounge-like chairs
dressed in ‘AppleSkin’ -a vegan alternative to leather- for everyone, ambient lighting and other
eye-catching details.
VW also confirmed that the ID Space Vizzion previews
a production version that’s scheduled to arrive in the market in late 2021,
with different versions planned for North America, Europe and China.
Stay tuned for the official reveal of the VW ID
Space Vizzion concept on November 19.
