BMW
introduced the 2020 M2 CS at the Los Angeles Auto Show and now the company has
revealed pricing will start at US$ 83,600. Costing
nearly US$ 25,000 more than the M2 Competition, the M2 CS is a limited edition
sports car that features a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine that
produces an estimated 444 hp and 550 Nm)of
torque.
This
enables the coupe to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in as little as 3.8
seconds when equipped with the optional seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Given enough room, the model will eventually hit a top speed of 280
km/h.
Besides
the almighty engine, the M2 CS has a high-performance braking system, an Active
M Differential and an Adaptive M suspension. The car has also a number of a
carbon fiber reinforced plastic components including the hood, roof and rear
spoiler. Other carbon fiber goodies include the front splitter, rear diffuser
and mirror caps.
While
the price tag is eye-watering, the car comes nicely equipped with heated front
sport seats, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and ambient lighting. Drivers
will also find a Harman Kardon premium audio system, GPS navigation and a
universal garage door opener. Other highlights include adaptive LED headlights,
dynamic cruise control and park distance control.
There
are only four options including the aforementioned dual-clutch gearbox. The
others are 19-inch forged alloy wheels with a matt gold finish, Michelin Cup 2
tires and M Carbon Ceramic brakes. The
BMW M2 CS will arrive in the United States during the second half of 2020. It
will be available exclusively for one model year as the car is designed to
celebrate the coming end of the current 2-Series.
