The new Mercedes GLE Coupe is now available to order in the UK, with two models available from launch: the diesel GLE 400 d and the hybrid AMG GLE 53. Prices for the new German SUV Coupe start from £ 72,530 for the GLE 400 d 4Matic AMG Line Premium Plus and from £ 80,615 for the AMG GLE 4Matic+. First deliveries are expected to begin next summer.

The diesel variant of the BMW X6 arch rival is powered by a 3.0-liter straight-six producing 325 HP and 700 Nm of torque. The 4Matic all-wheel drive is of course standard, as is Mercedes’ 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. 0-100 km/h comes in 5.7 seconds, with the top speed electronically limited to 240 km/h.

The Mercedes GLE 400 d 4Matic AMG Line Premium Plus comes pretty loaded with features such as an air suspension, twin 12.3-inch displays with the MBUX infotainment and the augmented satellite navigation system, a Burmester surround audio, 22-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof.

Opt for the AMG GLE 53 4Matic+ and what you’ll get is a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six mild-hybrid powertrain producing 429 HP and 521 Nm of torque. The hybrid system features an EQ Boost starter generator that delivers an additional 21 HP and 249 Nm of torque for short bursts. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 5.3 seconds, while top speed is set at 250 km/h. The GLE 53 Coupe gets AMG Active Ride Control, model-specific 22-inch alloy wheels, AMG steering wheel controls and the AMG Track Pace data recording system.
