Enthusiasts
are anxiously waiting for Toyota to unveil the all-new GR Yaris hot hatch at
the Tokyo Auto Salon, but the automaker has something in store for the regular
2020 Yaris subcompact too.
We’re
talking about the accessories prepared by TRD and Modellista, which will also
make their debut at the tuning show hosted by Japan’s capital city. Previewed
two months ago, the TRD and Modellista packages manage to instill a sportier
and more purposeful appearance to the stock 2020 Yaris without appearing too
over the top.
The
more radical of the two is the TRD kit, which includes a sharp GR Parts aero
package consisting of a front spoiler, side skirts and rear side spoiler – all
featuring red inserts. The Yaris also gains aero turbulators attached to the
wheel arches and a sports side visor.
Rounding
off the upgrades are a front bumper garnish, checkered flag side decals, custom
16-inch forged alloys and tinted windows. Other parts offered by TRD include a
luggage mat, door handle protectors, carbon license plate frame and a front
member brace.
As
for Modellista, its package for the new Toyota Yaris adopts a slightly more
restrained look, though still sporty. The aero kit features body-colored front
spoiler, side skirts, rear spats and a rear bumper garnish.
The
choice of wheels is less radical than the GR Parts Yaris, with Modellista
offering smaller 14- or 15-inch SpinAir rims in two-tone black and polished
aluminum look. More subtle exterior details include chrome garnishes for the
headlamps, mirror caps and door handles.
Unlike
TRD, Modellista paid a lot more attention to the interior, luxing it up via
Camel-colored seat covers, dashboard and window switch panels. Besides the
Camel hue, seat covers also feature navy and plaid inserts.
Other
enhancements include the LED lighting for the cabin and luggage compartment, as
well as for the license plate. The entire range of TRD and Modellista
accessories is available at Toyota dealers across Japan.
