At
the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai took a step into the future of the
compact crossover with the Vision T Concept. The
vehicle combines large air intakes at the front with a big, partly-illuminated
grille, sharp creases that run across its length, bulky fenders, sloping
roofline and a rather clean rear end. Hyundai
has the next generation Tucson in the works, and a toned-down version of this
study would make for an interesting candidate. How it would look like? The
answer comes from Aksyonov Nikita, who took a shot at imagining a production
version.
The
concept sports a new face, complete with a different grille, slender headlights
and slightly reworked bumper, as well as side mirrors instead of cameras. Every
other aspect is carried over from the show car, so the plastic body cladding,
wheels and bold lines are still present.
In
addition to a new design, the new generation Tucson will also bring new
technology features and a significant makeover on the inside. The engine lineup will be revised as well,
with North America expected to get the turbocharged and naturally aspirated
versions of the 2.5-liter unit, probably matched to an eight-speed automatic
transmission. In Europe, the compact crossover should come with the 1.6-liter
GDI and T-GDI mills, and maybe a diesel and a hybrid powertrain. Front-wheel
drive will be standard and all-wheel drive will be offered in upper specs.
