As
we get closer to the opening day of the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon on January 10, Suzuki announcing a total of seven exhibits for the event, including three reference
vehicles based on the new Hustler kei car, Jimny Sierra small off-roader and
Suzuki Swift Sport hot hatch.
The
Suzuki Hustler Street Base is a custom concept that makes the production kei
car more versatile and fashionable. It targets young people who enjoy street
sports such as BMX, skateboarding and “dancing in the city”, whatever that
means. The exterior features a matte color
inspired by a shipping container with matching rims, gloss black trim
surrounding the grille and headlights, silver bumper inserts and mirror caps,
as well as a custom treatment for the roof. Inside, Suzuki says the Hustler
Street Base offers an ambiance similar to a live venue with many speakers and
lights.
Moving
on to the Suzuki Jimny Sierra Marine Style, it’s designed as “a sophisticated
adult marine leisure vehicle.” The exterior features a rugged look courtesy of
custom wheels shod with Yokohama Geolandar off-road tires, a steel front bumper
incorporating two tow hooks, side steps and a custom roof box. Speaking of the roof box, it’s flanked by
two cases that can hold fishing rods on the sides and features an attached LED
light bar at the front. The vehicle will be exhibited alongside the ‘S17’ small
boat.
The
third main exhibit is the Swift Sports Katana Edition, built as a tribute to
the Katana motorcycle. Now, you may recall that Suzuki released a limited
edition Swift Sport Katana earlier this year in the Netherlands.
The
Swift Sport Katana Edition is similar to that model, but takes the
customization a step further as the hot hatch gains a widebody kit with broader
fenders, custom side skirts, black alloys with red accents, gloss black grille,
front lip spoiler and mirror caps, smoked lights and windows, and Katana
graphics.
We
don’t get to see the interior, but Suzuki says it’s spiced up with gradient
titanium reminiscent of a heated muffler and red accents.
