A
white Tesla Model Y Performance prototype has been filmed up close while being
parked in California. This
is one of the first times the Model Y has been spied out and about prior to
production kicking off in 2020. Much like performance-focused versions of the
Tesla Model 3, Model S, and Model X, the Model Y Performance will come fitted
with a pair of electric motors driving all four wheels.
There
are however at least a few eye-catching aspects to this Model Y. Most notably,
it features black exterior door handles and black window trim. It is also
rolling on the ‘Gemini’ wheels that Tesla rolled out with the Model 3
Performance earlier in the year. So while it’s not the most gorgeous crossover
in the world, there should still be plenty of people out there that appreciate
this type of styling.
In
any case, the exterior and interior design of the Tesla Model Y has been an
interesting matter of debate since it was unveiled to the world earlier this
year. A number of parts have been carried over from the Model 3 and for the
most part, the Model Y looks just like a slightly swelled version of the Model
3 – but a little more practical thanks to its increased size.
Off
the line, the Tesla Model Y Performance should be able to hit 96 km/h in a mere 3.5 seconds and be good for a range of 450 km.
