The mountains of Colorado served as the unveiling place of the 2021 GMC Canyon, which comes with a more upmarket Denali trim and a newly introduced AT4 spec. Aimed at those who constantly venture off the beaten path, the Canyon AT4 boasts a bolder exterior styling, highlighted by the dark chrome trim, larger grille and red tow hooks. On the inside, it features ‘AT4’ embroidery in the headrests and unique Kalahari stitching.

It’s not all-show with no extra-go, as this version also gets off-road tuned suspension with Advanced Hill Descent Control System, four-wheel drive with rear automatic locking differential, transfer case skid plate that provides extra protection to the underbody and 17-inch aluminum wheels shod in 31-inch tires from Goodyear.

Power comes from the 3.6-liter V6 engine that kicks out 308 hp and 373 Nm of torque, and 2.8-liter diesel rated at 181 hp and 500 Nm. The 2021 Canyon Denali packs the same engine choices and rocks different grille, chrome accents, 5-inch assist steps and 20-inch diamond-cut aluminum wheels.

No images have been released at the time of writing, but the new Cocoa/Dark Atmosphere color is said to elevate the interior and is joined by the open-pore ash wood trim, aluminum elements and unique stitching. Heated steering wheel and heated and ventilated front seats are standard in this grade.
