Fiat has announced the pricing and range details of the new mild-hybrid versions of the 500 and Panda models in the UK. The electrified Fiat 500 will start from £ 12,665 (US$ 16,560) in the Pop trim level, while the Panda Mild Hybrid is priced from £ 13,885 (US$ 18,155) in its City Cross version. Fiat’s new hybrid city cars are expected to arrive in UK showrooms this February and March respectively.

Both models are powered by Fiat’s new mild hybrid 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 69 HP and 92 Nm of torque and features a 12-volt belt-driven starter generator and a lithium-ion battery. A newly-developed six-speed manual transmission is the only available option.

The electrified Fiat 500 and Panda are replacing the outgoing 1.2-liter four-cylinder models, offering better fuel economy and up to 30 percent reduced CO2 emissions on the road. The 500 Mild Hybrid returns 53.3 mpg UK (44.4 mpg US or 5.3 l/100 km) combined and emits just 88 g/km of CO2, while the Panda Mild Hybrid scores 49.6 mpg UK (41.3 mpg US or 5.7 l/100 km) and 89 g/km respectively. The powertrain’s starter generator recovers energy during braking and deceleration, storing in in the 11Ah battery. That energy is then used to assist acceleration and restart the engine in Stop&Start mode.

To celebrate the occasion, Fiat will offer well-equipped ‘Launch’ editions of its latest models; these will feature special ‘Hybrid’ badges, an exclusive ‘Dew Green’ exterior color, as well as seats with a fabric upholstery created out of recycled plastic. The Launch Edition of the new Fiat 500 is priced at £ 16,795 (US$ 21,950), while the Panda Mild Hybrid Launch Edition starts from  £14,385 (US$ 18,800).
