The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo has been
spied testing yet again, ahead of a world premiere expected to take place later
this year. Previewed by the 2018 Mission E Cross Turismo Concept, the rugged
estate version of the four-door Taycan has a more generous ground clearance
which, along with a revised chassis and possibly improvements to the four-wheel
drive system, will give it moderate abilities off the beaten path.
The front end design of the electric
executive model appears to be shared with the regular Taycan up to the B
pillars. Further back, it has an elongated roof slightly arched towards the
rear and stickers covering the taillights on the scooped prototypes. Still, the
rear lamps are expected to be similar to the Mission E Cross Turismo.
The design of the cockpit will be
identical to the four-door Taycan, so it will boast premium materials, ambient
lighting and a 10.9-inch infotainment system. The passenger screen is believed
to be an optional extra, alongside other features, and the boot will be bigger
courtesy of the estate body style. In terms of power, the Taycan Cross Turismo
will mirror its four-door sibling, getting two-motor powertrains for
weather-proof all-wheel drive system, as well as a two-speed transmission.
The lineup will include the 4S and 4S
Performance Battery Plus grades, joined by the Turbo and range-topping Turbo S.
The base model will arrive with 523 horsepower and 563 hp available during
overboost, whereas the Turbo S will unleash 650 hp and 1,050 Nm of
torque on overboost. Nought to 100 km/h should take under 3 seconds
in the latter, given that the Taycan can do it in 2.8 seconds.
