Skoda has opened the order books for the Superb iV plug-in hybrid family car in the United Kingdom, where it will arrive in showrooms later this month. Part of the facelifted iteration of the third-gen, it uses the same powertrain as the latest Volkswagen Passat GTE and, at £ 31,970 for the SE Technology liftback, it is £ 4,630 more affordable than the four-door German model.

For the Superb iV SE L, SportLine Plus and Laurin & Klement, you’re looking at £ 34,755, £ 38,490 and £ 38,960, respectively. The Estate starts at £ 33,250 in the SE Technology trim level and rises to £ 36,035 and £ 39,770 for the SE L and SportLine Plus, while the L&K model will set you back £ 40,240.

Standard features across the range are 17-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, wireless SmartLink for Apple CarPlay, leather upholstery and heated front seats. Upgrading to the SE L will get you 18-inch wheels, full matrix LED headlights, blind spot detection and an 8-inch infotainment system with Wi-Fi and sat-nav. The SportLine Plus adds front and rear parking sensors, hands-free opening boot, Alcantara sports seats and 9.2-inch touchscreen display, while the L&K comes with different-styled 18-inch wheels, ventilated front seats and a digital instrument cluster.

The Superb iV is powered by a 1.4-liter petrol engine and an electric motor that kick out a combined 218 PS and 400 Nm of torque. With the 13 kWh battery fully charged, it has a 56-km all-electric range in the WLTP test cycle.
