The new
generation Volkswagen Golf is available for order in the United Kingdom, as of
February 6. Available at launch in two trim levels, named the Life and Style,
with the R-Line set to join them at a later date, pricing starts at £ 23,875 and £ 25,470, respectively.
Believed to become the most popular grade
in the range, the Golf Life features 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights,
front and rear parking sensors, ambient lighting, heated and adjustable side
mirrors, keyless start (keyless entry is a £ 400 option) and cloth
upholstery. It’s also equipped with 10.25-inch digital gauges, a 10-inch
infotainment system, Discover Pro Navigation, DAB radio, Wireless App-Connect
and 3-year subscription to We Connect Plus, which brings media streaming,
parking space information, Wi-Fi hotspot and others.
Choosing the Golf Style will get you
17-inch alloy wheels, LED ‘plus’ headlights, sports comfort seats in ‘Art Velours’
fabric, wood decorative inserts, 3-zone climate control and more colors for the
ambient lighting feature. This version of the compact hatchback can also be
ordered with the £ 875 IQ.Light and £ 625 head-up
display. All Golfs are equipped with a host of driver assistance systems, such
as Lane Assist, Front Assist, Driver Alert System, Dynamic Road Sign Display
and Adaptive Cruise Control.
The engine lineup includes the 130 and 150
PS 1.5-liter TSI petrol units, matched to a six-speed
manual gearbox, and 115 PS and 150 PS 2.0-liter diesels, with the former getting the stick shift and the latter a
7-speed DSG. The 1.0-liter TSI three-pot will join the lineup in a few months,
alongside the 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter eTSI mild-hybrid petrol mills.
Speaking of things to come, the Estate,
GTE, GTI, GTD and R will be unveiled later this year.
