The next generation Dacia Sandero Stepway
has partially opened up the interior for the first time, revealing new
amenities. The Romanian automaker’s high-riding hatchback features a new
standalone infotainment system perched on top of the redesigned dashboard
panel. The steering wheel has also been redesigned and incorporates new buttons
on both sides, while the controls used to operate the music/radio and wipers
carry over. A push-button start seems to be part of the offering.
On the outside, the new Sandero Stepway
will retain the familiar silhouette of its predecessor adorning it with the
brand’s latest styling cues that will be shared with the regular Sandero, as
well as the new-gen Logan. Up front, we see that it gets a clam-shell hood with
a rounder front end hosting sharper looking headlights, while on the sides,
there’s a higher and more pronounced belt line. Protective plastic molds on the
wheel arches, side sills and bumpers, together with beefy roof rails will
highlight its crossover-inspired design.
Like the rest of the upcoming Dacia
family, the Sandero Stepway will be based on the CMF-B platform of the new-gen
Renault Clio, Captur and Nissan Juke. The engine lineup will mirror the regular
Sandero and Logan and is believed to include the usual assortment of petrol and
diesel mills, possibly including a 1.3-liter gasoline burner co-developed with
Daimler. A hybrid version of the car is thought to be in the works for the
standard Sandero, and if true, then we don’t see why it won’t be offered in the
Stepway, as well as the Logan and, why not, the Duster, too.
The new Sandero Stepway is believed to
debut later this year before going on sale in 2021.
