We first saw a prototype for the updated Jaguar XF out and about last year in September. That car however was the Sportbrake version, whereas now we get to feast our eyes on the more popular 4-door sedan model. Unfortunately the camouflage is pretty thick, especially at the front where we expect the XF to gain a restyled grille, new headlights and a slightly revised bumper for a more modern look.

Similar changes should occur at the rear too, where the taillights now appear ever so sleeker (possibly sharper LED light signature too), with some small changes to the trunk lid as well. This would address one of the issues of the current XF, where many felt that its rear lights were too large, from a visual standpoint.


The facelifted XF will be unveiled sometime in the second half of this year, with a greater focus on interior changes – just like with the updated XE. This means better interior quality, a new steering wheel, new secondary digital display for the climate control system, updated infotainment screen and instrument cluster, plus new trim and color options.

As for powertrain options, the carmaker’s latest diesel units are a given, and while buyers won’t be able to get a V6 with their XF anymore, they will most likely benefit from JLR’s all-new 395 HP 3.0-liter straight-six mild-hybrid petrol option – although that hasn’t been confirmed as far as the XF is concerned.Once in showrooms, the updated Jaguar XF will again take the fight to the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and Volvo S90.
