Building a general-purpose car out of a
racer is something only the best can do. Challenges include reducing engine
noise and emissions while extending its service life. Pogea Racing succeeded at
this last year with its Nemesis 000 project, and furthers the success with the
update called 001.
The car will soon ship to a well-to-do
client from Sydney, Australia. Its two-liter, four-cylinder turbo mill has been
reworked completely, gaining a Honeywell Garrett GTX2861 Gen.2 turbocharger and
more than 500 hp in the process. In the end, however, the tuner had to
design a custom Pogea MONSTERexhaust unit for it and drop the output to just
410 hp along with 550 Nm of torque, because the noise was
far too loud for urban driving.
Pogea used Porsche 997 Turbo components
for the intercooler, contacted Pistal Racing Italy for the cylinders, and
ordered the camshafts from their compatriots at Colombo & Bariani. German
tuner Siemoneit Racing developed the ECU upgrade.
Aside from the unique powertrain, the Alfa
Romeo 4C Nemesis 001 boasts a complete carbon-fiber body kit, KW suspension,
and ORBI5 Steinway wheels.
