Multiple sources have reported that Nissan
is preparing the third generation of its Qashqai SUV for 2020 Frankfurt Motor
Show premiere. The car allegedly gets a digital dash, a few hybrid powertrains to
choose from, and slightly larger dimensions.
Stylistically, the SUV will most likely be
based on the Nissan IMQ Concept revealed last year. That said, it will probably borrow a couple cues from the second-gen
Juke. A digital dash panel inside will be accompanied by a brand-new
infotainment system, the sources say.
As for the tech, like many other modern
cars, the Qashqai is expected to undergo partial electrification and ship with
mild and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Personally, we’d expect it to get the same
e-Power tech as the current-gen Note: an electric motor to drive the front axle
and a gasoline engine to charge the batteries.
Rumors say that sales in Europe should
begin later this year, but there has been no official comment from the company
yet.
