Mahindra is all set to introduce the 2020
BSVI compliant Marazzo MPV in India in the next few days. The company is also
readying the petrol version of the MPV, which is reportedly to be launched in
May 2020. With new BSVI diesel and petrol engines, the Mahindra Marazzo will
target wider audience.
The Mahindra Marazzo petrol will be
powered by a newly developed 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine from the company’s
new mStallion engine family. The company had unveiled the new mStallion range –
a 1.2-litre G12, 1.5L-litre G15 and 2.0-litre (G20) – at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The new engines come fitted with integrated exhaust manifolds, off-set
crankshafts, dual-mass flywheels and 250 bar fuel injection rail systems.
The new 1.5-litre TGDI petrol engine is
capable of producing a maximum power output of 163 bhp and a peak torque of
280 Nm. Based on the 130 bhp, 1.2-litre 3-cylinder G12 engine, the new 1.5-litre
engine will be offered with multiple upcoming Mahindra and Ford SUVs. The
1.2-litre G12 engine will be offered on the Mahindra XUV300 from April 2020.
Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
The Mahindra Marazzo will be the first
model to feature the G15 engine. This engine will also power the Mahindra and
Ford’s in-development mid-sized SUVs – codenamed S204 and B745. This engine
could also power the global SsangYong Tivoli. The petrol powered Marazzo is
expected to be priced around Rs 9 lakh and Rs 13 lakh.
