The Chevrolet Camaro isn’t as popular as it used to be, but that doesn’t mean the company is throwing in the towel. Instead, Chevrolet is preparing a handful of updates for the 2021 Camaro which should arrive at dealerships later this year. While the changes aren’t as extensive as the 2019 and 2020 facelifts, the 2021 model does gain some notable new equipment and an updated color palette.

Starting with the exterior, order guides noticed by GM Authority indicate the 2021 Camaro will drop garnet red tintcoat and rally green metallic. The former will effectively be replaced by a new extra-cost color called wild cherry tintcoat. Interior changes are also modest, but fans will be happy to find an upgraded infotainment system that now supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Higher end variants, including the 3LT and 2SS, also gain a newly standard wireless smartphone charger.

Engine options carryover and start with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 275 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Customers also have the option of upgrading to a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 hp and 385 Nm of torque. Of course, the high-performance Camaro SS returns with a 6.2-liter V8 pumping out 455 hp and 616 Nm. Fans can also opt for the Camaro ZL1 which has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 650 hp and 880 Nm of torque.

While engine remain the same, there is one notable change in the transmission department. The 2021 Camaro SS with the 1LE Track Performance Package can now be order with a ten-speed automatic gearbox. That’s a notable upgrade as the package used to be exclusive to models with a six-speed manual. There’s no word on pricing at this point, but we expect the 2021 Camaro to start from around US$ 25,000 when it arrives at dealerships later this year.
