America’s best-selling minivan for the
last 10 years, the Honda Odyssey, has been updated for the 2021 model year and
will be presented to the public at the 2020 New York Auto Show next month. On
the outside, it features a blacked out grille with a chrome strip at the top,
redesigned lower end and fog lamp housings. More efficient LED headlights have
been added to the package, as well as gloss black trim under the rear window,
with a chrome strip, echoing the updated face.
The second-row seatbacks now fold flat for
easier removal and the climate controls have been tweaked. From the EX trims,
all Odysseys feature illuminated USB ports and tri-color mats, while the
restyled seats with contrast stitching, power lumbar support for the front
passenger and second-row pockets are offered from the EX-L.
The Touring and Elite boast black piano
trim, while the range-topping Elite comes with exclusive trim on the dashboard,
perforated leather for the first and second rows, and contrast stitching and
piping on all three rows. The top-spec also gets auto-dimming side mirrors and
new 19-inch wheels.
All versions of the 2021 Odyssey have the
standard Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance technology. The range has
been enhanced to include Pedestrian Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise
Control with Low-Speed Follow. The Rear-Seat Reminder system is also new and
comes with the CabinWatch camera that displays the rear seating area on the
infotainment screen in the Touring and Elite.
The 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 engine soldiers
on, with 280 horsepower and cylinder deactivation tech, paired exclusively to
the 10-speed automatic transmission. Pricing details will be announced later
this year, when the 2021 Odyssey goes on sale nationwide, although it’s expected
to cost a tad more than the outgoing iteration, which starts at US$ 30,790.
