Mercedes-Benz's mid-size Metris cargo and
passenger vans are getting an update for the 2021 model year, although the
updates are rolling out on the Europe-market Vito and eVito vans first.
Mercedes says the updated Metris lineup will be available to U.S. buyers later
this year.
The Metris still comes in cargo and
passenger variants, each with increased gross vehicle weight ratings: 6834 and
6393 pounds, respectively. There's a new radiator grille, a nine-speed
automatic transmission, and either 16- and 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-season
tires. The Metris can also be had with a comfort suspension, electric sliding
doors, and active park assist.
Inside, a new 7.0-inch touchscreen is
standard, with smartphone integration, meaning Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
will finally be on these work vehicles. There is also an improved rearview
camera that can be displayed on a digital interior mirror, plus new vent
nozzles and high-gloss black trim on the center console. The seats are covered
in black Caluma fabric, and there's also new plastic floor covering.
Blindspot, crosswind, attention, and
active brake assist are all standard on all 2021 Metris models. Expect to see
it in the U.S. later this year starting at around US$ 34,000 for the cargo van and US$ 37,000 for the passenger van.
