Skoda recently announced their upcoming
electric crossover would be called the Enyaq, and now spy photographers have
caught the vehicle undergoing testing in Europe. Snapped wearing modest amounts
of camouflage, the Enyaq is Skoda’s version of the Volkswagen ID.4.
While the two models will share a number
of similarities, the Enyaq features a prominent grille which is hidden behind a
fake cover. Nothing is official, but the grille could resemble the one used on
last year’s Vision iV concept. Speaking of the Vision iV, the Enyaq’s front
fascia closely echoes the concept. However, it appears less angular and more
aerodynamic. Moving further back, we can see relatively plain bodywork and a
greenhouse that mimics the ID.4. The model also has a unique tailgates and a
conservative rear end.
The interior will likely echo the one
found in the ID.3 and ID.4. This means
we can expect a digital instrument cluster, a freestanding infotainment system
and a handful of Skoda-specific touches. Skoda hasn’t said much about the
Enyaq, but it will be introduced later this year and become their first
electric vehicle based on the MEB platform.
Specifications remain unconfirmed, but
Volkswagen used the ‘digital’ Geneva Motor Show to announce the ID.4 will be
offered with rear- and all-wheel drive. The company also confirmed one of the
variants will have a range of range of up to 500 km according to
the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure.
We can expect motors to be shared with the
ID.3. As a result, there could be variants with outputs of 148 hp and 201 hp. The all-wheel drive model, on the other hand,
is expected to use two electric motors that produce a combined output of
approximately 302 hp.
