Following the concept premiere two years
ago, the electric vehicle subdivision of ABT Sportsline has finally opened its
pre-order books for the battery-powered version of the Volkswagen Transporter
T6.1. The so-called ABT e-Transporter 6.1 has the same long wheel base as the
van it is based upon, 6.7 cubic meters of cargo room, and
between 977 and 1,096 kilograms of carrying capacity. Aside
from the popular commercial van version of the T6.1, Kombi and Caravelle
versions also receive all-electric counterparts from the tuner.
ABT had originally intended to offer the
van with two battery sizes to choose from, specifically 37.3 kWh and 74.6 kWh.
However, the production van ended up with the smaller one. Its real capacity is
being reported as 32.5 kWh, which translates into 105-138 kilometers of WLTP-rated driving range.
The single electric motor the car comes
with produces 113 hp and 200 Nm of torque. The maximum
speed can be limited at 90 km/h or 120 km/h, in accordance
with the customers’ wishes. ABT e-Line is a licensed partner of Volkswagen
Commercial Vehicles, so you can go to any VWCV authorized dealership if you
want to pre-order the battery van.
